Art Nouveau could be described with the elements of
Flowing lines, Violent Curves and Organic subjects.
Art nouveau is graceful, sinuous lines hardly ever
angular ,so artists explain the curves in Art Nouveau almost like whiplash
curves Repetitive patterns and curvy lines are characteristics of this art
style These curves usually construct an image, can be anything from flowing
plains, hardware, humans or furniture.
In this art
movement you will find an over whelming amount of flowers, leaves, vines,
insects and plenty of other organic objects
Instead of classic
gemstones during the period of Art Nouveau jewellers opted to work with opals
and semiprecious stones moving away from the ordinary. Glass
art became bigger and better and gained popularity as more artists became
interested in Art Nouveau, Moulded glass, animal horns and ivory tusks became
commonly used materials.
